Position Summary:
Responsible for the acquisition of goods and/or services within assigned commodity area. Follow and model Airbus approach on deliveries, KPI's and contract penalties. Conducts negotiations with vendors; ensures strategic backup vendors are available for high demand and hard to find items. Cultivates and enhances vendor and customer relationships. Plans and anticipates internal needs for commodities within his/her area.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ensures compliance with the procurement strategies defined by the General Procurement Board (GPB) and the Multi-Functional Teams (MFT) within the scope of activity supporting Airbus Group divisions' needs.
After consultation with internal customers, review and analysis of past orders and order history issues RFQs up to $1 million for items within commodity area.
Develop and maintain an efficient supply chain capable to deliver goods/work packages (services), matching Airbus requirements and business objectives.
Ensure deliverables are in line with contract terms (cost, time, quality).
Establish, maintain and enhance continuous commercial relationships with suppliers in order to secure work with best-in class suppliers and to preserve the best interests of Airbus.
Deliver on initiatives contributing to Airbus Group Savings Programs using the levers of requirement harmonization/standardization, challenge of the specifications, and volume aggregation and control of demand.
Facilitate procurement transactions to fill business needs and provide internal customers with goods and services in compliance with the General Procurement procedures and guidelines and with the respective commodity strategies and borderlines defined by the Community management organization to the customers complete satisfaction.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
May lead project teams on procurement projects in vendor evaluation, audits, to identify new/alternate sources/suppliers and similar efforts.
Participate in the development and implementation of procurement techniques and guidelines (e-catalogs/e-brochures, etc.).
Monitor savings linked to procurement initiatives to evaluate success in meeting Savings Program goals.
Maintain cooperative relationships with vendors and engage with them in strategic and transactional activities to improve vendor relationships and enhance customer satisfaction.
Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:
Three or more years of procurement experience in with increasingly higher level of authority and accountability.
Project management skills.
Knowledge of additional functions including: finance, negotiation and communication skills.
Demonstrated effectiveness as a participant and leader on a work-focused team.
Education / Special Qualifications:
A Bachelors' degree in Business or Engineering or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Fluency in English sufficient to fully engage in negotiations. Fluency in French, German or Spanish is highly desirable.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
