Job Summary: Assists in maintaining replenishment and appropriate inventory levels for one or more assigned merchandise departments. Works with the Senior Planners, Planners and Buyers to plan and execute annual and seasonal sales, gross profit and stock turn goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: Assists with the development of seasonal and annual merchandise sales; gross profit and stock turn plans for assigned departments. Assist in data analysis and developing seasonal plans. Assists with the input of plans into the Financial Planning system.
Participates in Buyer/vendor meetings to keep abreast of current market trends. Provides input into development of strategic goals for the department(s).
Monitors the open-to-buy process and inventory levels at the corporate / regional and store level to ensure maximum merchandise in-stocks and stock turns. Monitors, tracks, and/or places orders to ensure timely receipt of merchandise.
Compiles data necessary to prepare inventory projections. Monitors sales, receipts, and markdowns and recommends adjustments to forecasts as appropriate.
Assists in preparing and analyzing system reports as required to maximize sales, gross margin and manage inventory levels both at the stores and Distribution Centers. Makes recommendations regarding adjustments.
Gathers necessary historical financial data to create business plans and perform pre-season analysis, in conjunction with the Senior Planner/Planner and Buyer, at the appropriate department/class/vendor/style level.
Works with Senior Planner/Planner to ensure optimal store/warehouse stock levels for replenishable and advertised items. Assists in developing and maintains appropriate stock models by store and warehouse location to ensure effective automatic replenishment where applicable. Assists in determining stock levels for advertised items.
Executes replenishment system maintenance relative to Planogram/Assortment implementation and adjustments. Activates stock models being added, deactivates stock models being deleted, and assists with preparing necessary reports to develop Planogram assortments.
Effectively communicates with store personnel and vendor community regarding in stock concerns and min/max levels.
Works under the supervision of a Planner/Senior Planner. Operates independently within the framework of NEXCOM policies, procedures and regulations. Exercises independent judgment and approach in routine situations and confers with supervisor on non-routine situations. Consults with supervisor on such issues as policy matters, deviations from normal procedures or unusual circumstances.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
The incumbent of this position must file a Financial Disclosure Report (OGE) Form 450, as required. Qualifications: A Total of 4 years of experience, consisting of the following:
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience which was gained in professional, technical or other responsible work which enabled the applicant to gain a knowledge of retail practices; demonstrated skill in dealing with others; and the ability to analyze problems and recommend practical solutions using sound judgment.
OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE : 1 year of academic study above the high school level may be substituted for nine months of experience, up to a maximum of a four year bachelor's degree for three years of general experience.
AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of responsible experience which provided background in: Procurement practices, methods and procedures; monitoring of an open to buy system; developing seasonal financial plans; preparation of inventory projections; monitoring and maintenance of sales, inventory levels and stock turns; database/spreadsheet software applications; merchandising systems or similar responsible work within one or more operational or merchandising areas of non-appropriated fund or private sector retail work that demonstrated the knowledge and ability to perform the work of the position.
