What Will You Do?
The Supply Chain Procurement Manager
will be responsible for establishing and negotiating carrier capacity in the marketplace. Utilizing a standard RFQ process, the successful candidate will establish core business relationships with asset-based carriers and brokers across the freight industry. As the position continues to develop, this person will be responsible for the overall management of others within the procurement team. This person will provide regular and proactive communications to customers and Senior Management.
When new business opportunities are identified, this role will work with both potential customers and a cross-functional S-82 team to develop an optimal solutions design.
This unique opening allows the opportunity for the person to use both imagination and problem-solving skills to create unique carrier based, operational solutions for each customer. Each project tends to be distinctive in its requirements and strategy, so the ability to handle ambiguity and change is essential. The team environment and evaluation process allows visibility to, and interaction with, all levels and functional roles within S-82.
Expertise in Transportation Procurement and Use of Technology to Conduct Bid Events.
Knowledge of the Carriers' Business (In depth knowledge of carrier networks and operational needs).
Knowledge of Carrier Operations (includes Financials, Modes, Risks, Opportunities, etc.)
Federal Regulations (Including DOT, FMCSA, CSA, HOS, etc.)
5-7 Years of Applicable Transportation/Logistics Experience.
Understanding of Transportation Economics & Cost Analysis.
Exceptionally Strong Negotiation Skills.
Well Organized with High Attention to Detail and Accuracy.
Excellent Communication, Presentation, Analytical and Project Management Skills.
Strong PC skills – Excel, Word, Access and Transportation Management System
Self-Starter - Ability to Communicate and Interface at All Levels of S-82, Including Customers, and Carriers in a Manner that Consistently (and Quickly) Produces Results.
Bachelor’s Degree Required, Masters Preferred
Ability to Travel Up to 30%.
