is a 157-bed skilled nursing facility and is now accepting applications for Registered Nurses Unit Managers (RN)
The Unit Manager- RN is responsible for and adheres to the standards of care for the area, manages the environment to maintain resident/patient safety, and supervises the resident/patient care activity performance by nursing assistants and helpers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Makes daily rounds on unit to ensure resident care needs and environmental standards are met, this includes monitoring of dining room during meal times.
Participates in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures based on identified needs.
Oversees resident care to promote the highest level of physical, mental and psychosocial functioning possible for assigned unit.
Actively participates in the Quality Assurance process, including attendance at Quality Assurance meetings and submission of required reports.
Participates in the clinical admission process
Makes frequent rounds to ensure nursing personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
Gives/receives the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours.
Ensures assigned work area (i.e. nurse station, med. Cart, medication room, etc.), resident/patient care rooms and treatment areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. Monitors supplies and orders as needed.
Attends regularly conducted staff meetings as scheduled by them Director of Nursing and participates regularly in continuing education in-service programs.
Participates in the Performance Improvement Process.
Participates in the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care (“IPOC) process as assigned.
Handles on-call responsibilities as required.
Makes and directs the daily work assignments of employees.
Reassigns employees from one area to another area as facility needs dictate
Authorize overtime and early departures from work.
Receive and handle employee complaints.
Participates in all-hands dining, when required.
Other duties as assigned
Supervises staff whether directly or indirectly in accordance with company policies and procedures. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, performance reviews, training and coaching of employees.
Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
Actively looking for ways to help people.
Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and other facility staff. Possess special interest in working with long-term care residents and the elderly.
The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING
Computer literacy skills (Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, Internet)
One to three years of professional experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelors Degree preferred
One year of supervisory experience preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Possess a current, unencumbered state RN License
To qualify you must have the following:
You must be a Registered Nurse (RN)
You must have a current FL RN license
You must have (2) two years of experience in a Long Term Care / Skilled Nursing setting
You must have (2) two years of experience as a Unit Manager
