As the Transportation Procurement Manager, you will manage all transportation procurement functions including developing new carrier sources, conducting bids, and selecting carriers. You will also collaborate with customer and account management to create procurement solutions that meet service and cost expectations. What you’ll do on a typical day: Own all procurement-related activities for specific accounts within our organization Provide industry expertise, guidance, and support on pricing (assist in generating and reviewing bids), freight claims, issue and conflict resolution, safety, and compliance Manage conducting carrier bids, analyze rates, and carrier selections; make decisions on awards while remaining compliant with the overall sourcing strategy Create, manage, update, and maintain rate schedules; benchmark rates for new lanes for customer cost studies Develop procurement strategies with local, regional, and national carriers to optimize financial and service benefits Onboard new carriers to the customer network Compile and interpret on-time performance metrics for meetings with customer and carriers; address and resolve carrier-related issues External negotiation of contracts and prices with carriers across multiple modes, managing multimillion-dollar negotiations with carrier executives and operational management What you need to succeed at XPO: At a minimum, you’ll need 5 years of combined experience in carrier procurement and logistics/operations Solid understanding of transportation carrier contracts, all modes, transit time, and networks Understanding of and experience in mode rate structures such as Small Parcel, White Glove, LTL, Truckload, Regional Providers, and International Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Access) Availability to travel at times up to 25% It’d be great if you also have: Bachelor’s degree Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills with ability to multitask Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently under tight deadlines in a rapidly changing environment Be part of something big. \r
