Job Overview: The Strategic Procurement team at Macy's is responsible for collaboratively developing and implementing non-merchandise spend management strategies in support of Macy's Inc.'s overall corporate strategy and the company's focus on ongoing profit improvement. Strategic Procurement is responsible for strategic sourcing, category management, vendor development, vendor diversity, and sustainability. Specifically, the Category Management team manages ongoing operations with vendors including vendor management, planning, working with stakeholders on requirements and new requests, demand management, spec. optimization, risk monitoring and mitigation, vendor service level management, innovation, and efficiency/productivity improvements. Essential Functions: Manages strategic vendors for specific categories, implements new initiatives, negotiates incremental projects, and ensures savings delivery and value creation Serves as day-to-day operations lead and supply chain management owner for categories that are wholly-managed by Strategic Procurement Drives year over year productivity improvements with strategic vendors. Leads all supplier development efforts, and drives supplier led innovation Works closely with stakeholders to ensure vendors are meeting business needs as well as contractual obligations Communicates project updates to all internal stakeholders, manages cross-function teams to deliver new projects Partners with business owners and sourcing teams to develop clear category sourcing strategies and ensure they are consistently implemented Provides rigorous understanding of supply market dynamics including commodity and currency changes to optimize the supply chain Support in development of sourcing RFPs, program requirements and assumptions, functional specifications, packaging and shipping requirements, costing tools, testing requirements, etc. Owns development of procure-to-pay strategy for specific categories, and monitors spend and contractual obligations for set of vendors Identifies and pursues process re-engineering, value engineering, and demand management opportunities to increase efficiencies Assists in managing supplier relationships, tracking supplier performance, and communicating performance feedback to suppliers by overseeing a structured supplier performance management process Is accountable for escalation of risks, issues, and mitigation with key managed suppliers Partners with Sourcing and Business teams to develop implementation and transition plans and supports change management initiatives Supports savings tracking in partnership with Finance Ensures compliance with Company policies and procedures Collaborates with other procurement team members to ensure seamless integration, capability improvements, and improvement in category management best practices Supports change management initiatives Leads cross-functional teams on value-engineering and process efficiencies to drive better results A subject matter expert in materials and services procured, specifications, and manufacturing processes, keeps current with market trends Qualifications: Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, finance or related discipline CPM or CPIM certification a plus Three plus years professional experience in procurement or operations management, logistics or supply chain with leading organizations Experience in a dynamic organization with exposure to advanced procurement and/or operational efficiency strategies Retail / CPG experience preferred Strong process improvement and project management experience Able to analyze vendor financials, build complex should-cost models, and optimize supply chain processes Communication Skills Excellent communication skills and ability to develop strong relationships with business partners and strategic vendors Reasoning Ability Excellent analytical, problem solving, and stakeholder management skills Strategic mindset and passion for efficiency, simplification, and outstanding results Ability to perform in a fast-paced, goal-oriented, and time-sensitive environment Ability to lead and influence change in the face of complexity and ambiguity Other Skills Knowledge of Supplier Management tools (SRM, conducting Quarterly Business Reviews, etc.) Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Oracle procure-to-pay systems a plus Change agent and self-starter, able to develop innovative solutions to business problems Technology savy Experience managing a variety of categories/materials including any of the following: Marketing, Direct Mail, Print Store Supplies and Packaging Information Technology (Hardware, Software, Peripherals, E-Commerce, services) This job description is not all inclusive.
