D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Division Vice President of Purchasing. The right candidate will assist the Division President by overseeing the division purchasing operation and has designated approval authority to budget and secure all home-building costs. Responsible for overseeing the process of creating and monitoring construction budgets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Performs the obligations and signature duties required by the elected office stated in the Corporate Authority resolutions• Obtain the best qualified and best-priced products and labor contracts to build homes at the best value attainable• Provide the best quality of materials and labor into the construction of D.R. Horton, Inc. (DHI) homes at the best value attainable• Collaborates with the Division President to provide data and oversight of product development• Create and implement purchasing processes identifying community specific requirements and option programs• Work with engineers, architects and consultants to obtain final plans for bidding process• Oversee the bid process to subcontractors and vendors for approved architectural plans• Review bids and manage contract awarding• Manage Purchasing Department workload, priorities and deadlines• Create and manage cost programs ensuring actual construction costs equal construction budgets• Manage process for estimating and approving costs for custom changes and purchase order variances• Secure and execute vendor and supplier agreements• Responsible for hiring contractors, suppliers and laborers to obtain quality work at a competitive price• Oversee budget process for upcoming projects and generate early determination of economic feasibility• Perform conflict resolution with construction, operations, vendors and contractors• Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company• Ability to travel overnight• Participates with the division leadership team providing comment and direction to developing new community concepts• Participate in the construction scheduling process with other division departments• Provide support during construction for design clarification and corrections during design changes and new projects• Maintain awareness of market trends• Develop a long term, sustainable loyalty based partnership with strategic and key suppliers • Attend and participate in annual IT and purchasing summit meetings• Maintain effective working relationships with customers, contracted vendors and suppliers, and other department employees• Identify needs and implement training for Purchasing team• Research new construction technologies to continually improve efficiency and reduce costs
Supervises 2 or more employees','!*!Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
Six to eight years related experience in purchasing or procurement required
Must have a vehicle and a valid drivers' license
4Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Strong verbal and written skills, and ability to communicate clearly and concisely
Ability to understand and read construction plans and documents
Experience managing and supervising activities of direct reports
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
Proficiency with MS Office and email
Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
The noise level is generally moderate
Construction field experience preferred
Experience in analyzing and interpreting financial data and reports
Basic accounting knowledge or finance knowledge
Expected Salary: $96,000 - $160,000 Annually - Bonus paid per metrics.
