The Materials Planner is responsible for the sourcing and procurement of raw materials and indirect spend for the Henkel business at Chicago 51st street manufacturing location. The Materials Planner ensures timely availability of raw materials and indirect purchases at different levels of the supply chain and utilizes continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean to focus on cost, quality, and delivery.
What we offer
Manages all sourcing and procurement related activities, including but not limited to:
Generating RFQs and RFPs.
Performing cost and price analyses.
Creating Purchase Orders via SAP for direct materials and services.
Maintaining appropriate stocking levels for assigned products.
Ensures approved suppliers only used for raw materials and indirect purchases.
Communicates effectively with local scheduling group to ensure an uninterrupted supply chain
Maintains effective business relations with suppliers or their representatives.
Ensures accurate SAP records covering pricing, lead time, and vendor information.
Maintains accurate SAP materials planning information.
Coordinates with the suppliers on materials availability.
Provides sourcing support for new product development.
Ensures compliance with established purchasing policies.
Prepares weekly, monthly and quarterly reports (e.g. inventory analysis, back orders, supplier metrics and open POs). ','!*!Who we are looking for
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations management, business finance or technical field strongly preferred.
3 years of working experience in sourcing, procurement or supply chain in a manufacturing environment required.Chemical industry experience preferred.
Experience with lean and six sigma methodologies.
Functional skills using MRP systems such as SAP Purchasing / Supply Chain Module preferred.
Knowledge of standard contract terms and conditions preferred.
Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of management.
Demonstrated analytical, organizational and cross-functional skills.
