Job Details I.Position Summary The Lead Procurement Specialist is responsible for providing purchasing\/sourcing support to the Contract Manager, Clinical Value Analysis teams(s) and end-users, as well as functional day to day supervision of procurement staff assigned to their respective work team.Works in tandem with the Informatics team to monitor compliance and value attained from participating in Group Purchasing Organizations and local contracts when applicable. II. Essential Functions 1.Attends assigned meetings with Contracting, Clinical Quality Value Analysis team(s) within their assigned subject matterto ensure communications are open and mutually informative 2.Works with Contracting, Informatics and Value Analysis teams on system initiatives and provides day to day functional supervision to procurement staff working on these teams 3.Negotiates contracts when assigned 4.Serves as an informational resource and trainer for other departments on the requirements, policies and procedure for Supply Chain Management 5.Development of targets for Key Performance Metrics in conjunction with Director of Purchasing and overall responsibility of meeting \/exceeding targets. 6.Responsible for oversight of received not invoiced report 7.Identifies ways to improve work processes and enhance customer (internal as well as external) satisfaction. 8.Collaborates with Accounts Payable, Contracting, Distribution and Suppliers to resolve discrepancies, improve workflow, in completion of their daily tasks 9.Monitors vendor confirmations of orders received and takes appropriate action 10.Utilizes GHX to monitor exceptions 11.Manages the open PO report ensuring the timelyand accurate placement of purchase orders 12.Coordinate with appropriate departments for the return on damaged and incorrect product\/supplies 13.Stays abreast of new technology affectingSupply Chain Management and recommend changes to Purchasing Procedures 14.Responsible for ongoing maintenance of Mode of Requisition\/Mode of Purchase and I-Care training modules associated with testing and training for end users 15.Ensures and monitors (through KPI results) Procurement Specialists are initiating Lawson numbers for special orders as appropriate. 16.Ensures and monitors (through KPI results) Procurement Specialists are encouraging and steering end users to contracted items. III. Accountability Reports to the Director of Purchasing\/Warehousing & Logistics.Accountable for promoting positive customer and employee relations; accurate and timely placement of purchase orders and supporting the EMHS cost saving initiatives IV. Qualifications 1.Associate's degree\u00a0and at least five (5) years' purchasing experience required, preferably in a healthcare setting. 2.Must have strong knowledge base with the majority of products used frequently in the acute healthcare setting. 3.Must have strong understanding of Rx and Med\/Surg distributors and the way they support hospitals. 4.Lawson or equivalent MMIS purchasing experience required 5.Managing \/ leadership experience preferred 6.Prefer comprehensive knowledge of medical products and commodities 7.Ability to set priorities and use good judgment 8.Strong work ethic with ability to work with little supervision 9.Highly proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point 10.Excellent analytical and communication skills, both verbal and written required.
