Alere’s integrated system of point-of-care diagnostics, health information systems and chronic care management programs represent the future of healthcare, providing real-time information and services to lower costs and improve patient outcomes. We founded the company in 1981 to empower diabetics with glucose monitors that were accurate and easy to use at home. Like many other parts of our global economy, healthcare is changing at a rapid pace. Advances in technology have made access to health information more democratic. Convenience now drives patient decision-making, and patients have more freedom than ever before to demand healthcare solutions that meet their individual needs and preferences. Furthermore, the patient-centered medical home is becoming more and more of a reality, and primary-care practices need tools that will help them satisfy this demand for convenience and provide the level of thorough care coordination their patients require.
