Job Description
The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for activities related to Arrow suppliers and ensuring the integrity of the purchasing process. The position coordinates supplier quoting activities directly affecting product performance and compliance to design. This role plays an integral part in the growth, performance and development of Arrow Fastener. The team member will partner with other functional departments to build and maintain the stage gate process and manage the relationship with suppliers to successfully negotiate/renegotiate contracts, assess new supplier relationships, and/or consolidate supplier relationships as necessary. The Sourcing Specialist will continually strive for cost-saving programs with suppliers including volume-based discounts, better payment terms, lead time improvements and better overall pricing. This position will be required to perform Gap analysis and/or Root Cause analysis if supplier objectives are not being met along with corrective action measures that will mitigate and prevent impact to customers. Key Responsibilities • Negotiates prices and terms with suppliers and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities. • Works with new product teams through all phases of new product introductions- opportunity assessment, concept evaluation, design, tooling, implementation and product launch. • Initiates purchase orders for all raw/indirect materials and monitors demand activity to determine if either order’s need to be expedited or pushed back to support inventory targets. • Maintain the purchase order open report, close out all old orders and keep the report updated in Infor. • Monitor In-Transit report and work with freight forwarders to ensure product is being received on-time. • Determines needs for new suppliers needed for new product, to replace poor performers or supplement existing suppliers, etc. • Work closely with Quality and Product Engineering to ensure quality of purchased parts. • Support Engineering team with prototype purchase orders. • Special project assignments to support existing business. • Prepare RFQ’s. (Requests for Quotation) in coordination with Marketing & Engineering team and distributes to selected suppliers for part and tooling costs. • Track costs and status of negotiation during RFQ phase. • Recommend suppliers to the Purchasing, Sales and Engineering Team for approval and sourcing. • Analyze supply base to prepare and recommend suppliers to be added/removed from the Global Potential/Approved supplier list as well as nominate suppliers for the Strategic Supplier Status. • Lead and coordinate tooling purchase and develop schedule. • Other duties as assigned Experience and Qualifications • Ideal candidate will possess a B.S. Business or equivalent combination of experience and education. • Knowledge of varied manufacturing processes, PPAP, project management and superior negotiating skills. Must be able to manage multiple, conflicting priorities and maintain a powerful sense of urgency. • Minimum of 3-years of professional experience in procurement and contracting procedures. • ERP/BI system knowledge, previous experience with Infor a plus • MS Office products with advances proficiency using Excel • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities. • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as to positively interact with people at all levels of the organization. • Must be able to multi-task projects and deliverables.EducationPreferredBachelors or better in Business AdministrationSkillsRequiredRoot Cause AnalysisProblem SolvingPriority Setting/Multi TaskingAnalytical SkillsBehaviorsRequiredDetail Oriented: Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done well
